IFC (Interferential Current)

Interferential Current therapy, often referred to as IFC, is an effective modality that is frequently used to relieve pain and accelerate the healing process.  IFC uses high frequency signals to penetrate deep into muscle tissue.  The IFC device transmits electrical impulses through the skin, while stimulating the nerves and underlying tissues.   IFC has been proven to stimulate the production of endorphins which is body’s natural pain killer and accelerates healing.  The IFC current is transmitted through four electrode pads which are strategically placed around the affected area. When the currents meet, they interfere with each other which stimulate a powerful healing reaction in the body.

IFC has been proven to be highly effective in reducing swelling and inflammation, thereby improving coordination, movement and the reduction of chronic pain.  Its many indications include pre and post-surgical rehab and the treatment of circulatory and muscular issues

IFC therapy typically feels like a mild form of tingling or a pins and needle sensation which is not painful.  The level of stimulation is adjusted to patient comfort level.
